Lambton Heritage Museum announces final Speaker Series presentation for Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths
Grand Bend, ON – Lambton Heritage Museum invites visitors to attend When Death Stalked
Lake Huron: The Great Storm of 1913, the final presentation in its Speaker Series
accompanying the museum’s feature exhibition Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths.
The in-person event will take place at the museum on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Local author and historian Bruce Kemp will examine a dangerous and destructive storm that
claimed more than 260 lives across the Great Lakes. The presentation will focus on stories and
information that have come to light in the nine years since Kemp published his book Weather
Bomb 1913: Life and Death on the Great Lakes including audio recordings and reporting on the
final locations of ships lost on Lake Huron.
Spots are limited and interested participants can secure their seat by registering at
heritagemuseum.ca. Regular museum admission applies.
Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths explores the relationship between the waters of Lake
Huron and the St. Clair River and Lambton County. Displays include notable Lake Huron
shipwrecks, early nautical navigation techniques, and water-related recreational pastimes like
swimming, fishing and surfing. The exhibition is available with regular museum admission until
Oct. 18, 2026.
