Group Tours & Field Trips

Lambton Heritage Museum is a highlight destination for educational group tours in Lambton County.

Field Trips

A field trip to Lambton Heritage Museum is a unique learning opportunity for your class! It brings curriculum to life and creates lasting memories. Students can handle real artifacts and explore the history of Lambton County. School group admission is admission fees plus material costs per student. Teachers and chaperones are complimentary. Most programs require 1.5 to 2 hours but program times can be adjusted to suit your needs.

Holidays @ Heritage (Seasonal)

Hundreds of school children visit Lambton Heritage Museum each year to participate in our holiday-themed program, formerly known as A Child's First Christmas in Canada.

Learn about holidays in early Lambton and explore festive traditions brought to Canada from around the world. Students rotate through hands-on activity and craft stations, visit the museum's historic outbuildings, and receive a warm welcome in the Tudhop Home.

Available from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from November 24 - December 16.

Suggested grade level: Kindergarten to Grade 4

Holidays @ Heritage has close curriculum links with Gr. 2 Heritage and Identity: Changing Family and Community Traditions, and Gr. 3 Heritage and Identity: Communities in Canada, 1780-1850.

Heritage Discovery Program

The 1.5 to 2-hour Heritage Discovery Program includes a guided tour of our Lambton Gallery highlighting local history themes based on your student's grade level. Your visit will also include self-guided exploration of our historical buildings and outdoor exhibition halls. In select buildings, Discovery Boxes give students the opportunity to interact with museum artifacts.

Our flexible program can be adapted to suit your schedule. Extend your visit with exciting optional activities like an I Spy Scavenger Hunt, a walk along the 1-km Woodland Heritage Trail, time to explore our other indoor galleries, or a lunch/refreshment break in the pavilion.

Available in May, June, September, and October.

Suggested grade level: Junior - Senior

Short Stay Museum Visit

If you have less than 90 minutes to spend at the museum, we suggest your class enjoy a self-guided tour of the site with their adult group leaders. Each student can complete an “I Spy” scavenger hunt during their visit.

Available in May, June, September, and October.

Suggested grade level: All grades
